A Coronary Angiogram is considered the “gold-standard” diagnostic procedure that uses dye and a specialised x-ray machine to examine the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart.
This procedure is performed to identify blockages or narrowing of the arteries usually caused by plaques, to diagnose heart conditions and to plan future interventions, where necessary.
Patients may be referred for this procedure if they exhibit symptoms of coronary heart disease, angina, receive abnormal results from other diagnostic tests or prior to other heart surgeries.
This procedure is performed at the Princess Alexandra Hospital by our team of cardiologists.
