An Event Monitor can be prescribed for three to seven days, and is used to capture the heart’s electrical activity when a patient experiences symptoms. These symptoms are called an “event”.
Different to a Holter Monitor, an Event Monitor will only record data when patients place the device against their chest while symptomatic. This test is usually referred in the circumstance that patients experience symptoms less frequently.
Patients will be shown how to record the details of an event using the device as well as in an activity log. This data is then analysed by cardiac scientists to provide specific information on the hearts activity while symptomatic.
